And we understand how challenging it can be to wade through all the happenings and decide what events to attend, where to eat, and what to shop for. That’s why we’re here to share the top things we’re excited about in the coming week in each installment of “The Weekly.” Each week, we’ll rant and rave unabashedly about just a slice of the food, fun, and fantastic items that we’re currently obsessed with in downtown Providence, RI.

TONIGHT 9/10: *LAST* MOVIES ON THE BLOCK OF SUMMER 2026
Tonight is the night! We’re wrapping up our Summer 2026 Movies on the Block season with one final film in the park. We hope to see you for The Lord of the Rings: the Fellowship of the Ring on Thursday, Sept. 10 at Grant's Block Park in downtown Providence, RI. The movie starts rolling after sunset (so after 7 pm) but show up early because the park has limited seating!
Movies on the Block is our free outdoor movie screening series that has run once per month this summer. Pack up your beach chair, head to Providence, feast on some bites from Oberlin, and settle in for an exciting journey across Middle Earth after sunset.
TONIGHT 9/10: ROOFTOP CALIFORNIAN WINE TASTING
What better way to end the summer season than with a very romantic rooftop wine tasting? Eno Fine Wines has something fun planned for Thursday, Sept. 10—with limited tickets left, so grab ‘em quick—with a California wine celebration. Kicking off at 5:30 pm, check out the “Golden State at Golden Hour” tasting on the rooftop in downtown Providence.
Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased ASAP right here. And for a little more about the event: “From the coast to the mountains and plenty in between, we’ll be pouring our way through some of the regions, producers and wines that make California one of the most exciting places to drink.”
SAVE THE DATE: ANNUAL MALTED BARLEY X GANSETT STEINHOLDING COMPETITION
We’re excited for this one! Save the date for something fun at The Malted Barley: it’s time to test your strength with the annual The Malted Barley x Narragansett Brewing Steinholding Competition on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 3 pm.
There will be multiple divisions, the opportunity to qualify for the regional tournament, and much merriment. Sign up right here to save your spot! The Malted Barley is a classic spot, known for their wide beer selection and housemade pretzels, located in downtown Providence.
