The Weekly: 9/4/25 Guide to Downtown Providence

In Providence, there’s always something interesting going on! And we understand how challenging it can be to wade through all the happenings and decide what events to attend, where to eat, and what to shop for. That’s why we’re here to share the top things we’re excited about in the coming week in each installment of “The Weekly.” Each week, we’ll rant and rave unabashedly about just a slice of the food, fun, and fantastic items that we’re currently obsessed with in downtown Providence, RI.

PVDFEST: TWO SPOTS DOWNTOWN WHERE YOU’LL FIND US CELEBRATING

PVDFest is back again! The City of Providence is bringing live music, art, food, and more to downtown on Sept. 5-6 for this annual festival. And while there is a ton of programming to choose from, there are two places where you’ll find us this weekend…

First off, Durk’s Bar-B-Q on Aborn Street is having a block party on Saturday, Sept. 6 and there’s something for everyone. From 2-6 p.m. listen to Swamp Yankee play live Americana, country, and rock covers. And from 6-9 p.m. put on your cowboy boots and get ready to fill Aborn Street with dancing: Melissa of Get in Line will be leading the instruction for line dancing! There will also be a bounce house and a popcorn machine for the kiddos, and frozen margaritas for those over 21.

And secondly, we’ll be at The Eddy on Saturday, Sept. 6, for the special DJ set by Symposium Records from 6-11 p.m. Show up, take a seat, and enjoy their delicious signature cocktails, mocktails, and light bites on the outdoor patio during PVDFest.

THIS DOWNTOWN SHOP NOW STOCKING FALL CLOTHING ESSENTIALS

We know that some of us are still clinging to the last vestiges of summer, but the truth is: fall is nearly here! If you’re looking for some new clothing items to keep you cozy and warm, our favorite local skate shop has a whole slew of seasonal items in stock. Civil, located on Westminster Street, has just filled their catalog with jackets and outerwear from Dime that’s great for skateboarders and non-skateboarders alike.

We’re especially eyeing this soft flannel shirt (pictured) and this cozy green zip-up hoodie. Looking for something a little lighter? This artsy tee from Dime just hit the shelves, too! Check out all the new merch here.
