TONIGHT: “CLUE” SHOWS AT 8/28 MOVIES ON THE BLOCK SCREENING (PLUS A GIVEAWAY)

We’re halfway through our Summer 2025 Movies on the Block season! Don’t miss tonight’s screening (on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025) with the film “Clue.” Join us for this free outdoor film screening at Grant’s Block Park in downtown Providence, RI. This cult classic 80’s film—a comedic whodunit with a memorable cast of characters—will show after sunset. Seating at Movies on the Block is not provided so bring a beach chair or picnic blanket and show up early to save your spot. It fills up fast.

Some fun things for this particular screening:

  1. We’re throwing a giveaway over at @indowncitypvd on Instagram, with a little help from our friends at Hasbro. We’re pulling ten (10) randomly selected winners at 12 pm on Thursday, Aug. 28 to receive Clue board games, a Clue Advent calendar, gift cards to local cafes, and snacks to enjoy during the movie. Enter here.

  2. If you’ve seen “Clue” then you know the characters’ outfits are iconic! We’re encouraging everyone to come in costume, if so desired, so pull out the tweed and evening gowns and feathers.

CIELITO MEXICAN KITCHEN NOW OFFERING ONLINE ORDERING

We’re always excited when we find out that one of our go-to restaurants offers online ordering! (What do you mean we can plan to schedule our lunch order during a busy work day, or grab dinner and go have a picnic with friends?) That’s why we’re pleased to share that Cielito Mexican Kitchen in Providence, RI now has a super easy pickup option.

Ever since Cielito Mexican Kitchen opened in downtown Providence during Summer 2024, we’ve been happily feasting on empanadas, corundas, tacos, horchata, Paloma cocktails, and more. Chef Diego Alcantar is incredibly talented (he’s even a James Beard nominee). And his brand new lunch and dinner menu that combines Michoacán dishes with New England cuisine is especially popular and unique.

JUST ANNOUNCED: HEARTLAND MASALA BOOK RELEASE AT OBERLIN

We just heard there’s something delicious going on at Oberlin in downtown Providence! On Sunday, Sept. 7, Oberlin is hosting a book release dinner for Heartland Masala: An Indian Cookbook from an American Kitchen. Both chef instructor Jyoti Mukharji and her food historian son, Auyon, will be present at the dinner.

“This beautifully illustrated book offers readers not only traditional and diasporic Indian recipes, but also the historical and cultural context to better appreciate them. Heartland Masala's most distinctive feature is its tag-team authorship: a years long collaboration between an immigrant mother and her American-born son. The pair's shared love of teaching, cooking, and culinary history shines throughout.”

The dinner will include three courses that combine inspiration from Heartland Masala and Oberlin’s own style. Tickets are $75 per person and require a reservation.
