And we understand how challenging it can be to wade through all the happenings and decide what events to attend, where to eat, and what to shop for. That’s why we’re here to share the top things we’re excited about in the coming week in each installment of “The Weekly.” Each week, we’ll rant and rave unabashedly about just a slice of the food, fun, and fantastic items that we’re currently obsessed with in downtown Providence, RI.

SYMPOSIUM BOOKS HOSTS OUTDOOR SILENT BOOK CLUB
Calling all readers- Symposium Books is once again hosting a Silent Book Club, but this time, it’s outdoors! Head to Grant’s Block Park or sit directly outside the bookstore in downtown Providence on Saturday, July 19 from 5:30-7 pm to enjoy your current read in silence with other readers.
Per usual, Symposium (240 Westminster Street) will have cold drinks and snacks available for sale inside the bookstore. The park has benches and limited tables and chairs, but readers are encouraged to bring their own chairs too.
SIGN UP FOR A FLORAL DESIGN CLASS AT ELLIE’S
Fragrant flowers, fresh food, and flavorful drinks… It’s a magical combination! If this sounds right up your alley, sign up for Ellie’s Floral Design Class on Wednesday, July 23 from 5-7 pm. Tickets are $100 and include hands on floral arranging with guidance and local flowers from Moonrose Farm. Seasonal food and drinks from Ellie’s will be available as well.
Sign-ups are required and can be made here. Not able to make it? Ellie’s is not only a Parisian-inspired cafe during the day and a wine bar at night, but a host to a variety of baking and floral classes. Stay tuned for more!
SAVE THE DATE: ONE WEEK UNTIL MOVIES ON THE BLOCK “MERMAIDS”
We had such a fun time when we kicked off the return of Movies on the Block a few weeks ago! Thank you to everyone who came out to our first free outdoor film screening of the summer. Here on out, join us at Grant’s Block Park in downtown Providence, RI one Thursday a month from June to September. The next screening is next week on Thursday, July 24, 2025 with the film “Mermaids.”
This classic 90’s film—featuring Cher and Winona Ryder—will show between sunset and dusk. Seating at Movies on the Block is not provided so bring a beach chair or picnic blanket and show up early to save your spot! Bring a picnic dinner or purchase food to-go from the surrounding small businesses. P.s. Please leave the pets at home!
LIVE JAZZ AND A WINE TASTING WITH ENO FINE WINES
There’s nothing quite like a rooftop wine tasting, overlooking some of the most iconic parts of the Providence skyline… And Eno Fine Wines has one scheduled for Thursday, July 24 from 6-8:30 pm! Sip both whiskies and wines, dive into snacks by Amaryllis, and listen to live jazz by Matthew Kowalski. Tickets can be purchased online here and are $45 per person.
Eno is located on Westminster Street and always stocks a stunning array of both local and international wines, beers, spirits, and more.
