The Weekly: 7/31/25 Guide to Downtown Providence
In Providence, there’s always something interesting going on! And we understand how challenging it can be to wade through all the happenings and decide what events to attend, where to eat, and what to shop for. That’s why we’re here to share the top things we’re excited about in the coming week in each installment of “The Weekly.” Each week, we’ll rant and rave unabashedly about just a slice of the food, fun, and fantastic items that we’re currently obsessed with in downtown Providence, RI.

NEW DINNER MENU AT CIELITO MEXICAN KITCHEN
Right after being crowned with a “Best of Rhode Island” award from Rhode Island Monthly, Cielito Mexican Kitchen in downtown Providence, RI hit the ground running with a brand new dinner menu! This menu highlights a unique fusion of New England and Mexican flavors.
“For the first time, Cielito is diving into the waters of New England,” writes Cielito’s owner and chef, Diego Alcantar. “After a year of bringing authentic Michoacán flavors to Providence, I’m expanding our menu with a seafood collection that celebrates both my Mexican roots and the techniques refined during my time with Chef Nick at Avenue N.”
Explore street food and seafood and beyond—such as corondas with local lobster—on a special dinner menu rich with regional and international combinations. Check out this reel highlighting Cielito’s new dishes.
NEW SUMMER ITEMS ARRIVE AT QUEEN OF HEARTS BOUTIQUE
One way we’ve been beating the heat recently is by ducking into small businesses along historic Westminster Street. And we were delighted to find that one of our go-to shops, Queen of Hearts (the sister store to Modern Love), has countless new items in stock for this summer!
We’re upping our accessory game with new Baggu items—such as this adorable pastel Miffy crescent bag—and stylish Brixton fedoras. For a wardrobe refresh, we’re always a fan of the dress selection at Queen of Hearts! Two favorites are the Sophia Dress in a lovely peachy pink and the silky, summery Jaidan Dress from Steve Madden.
Looking for something with a more casual touch? We’re loathe to exchange our pair of Leopard Straight Denim for any other pants.
THE DOWNTOWN GROCERY STORE WE’RE POPPING INTO FOR COLD DRINKS
Between coffee shops and cocktail bars, Providence has so many delicious cold beverages to offer! But when we’re craving something chilled at any hour of the day and we want to pick up a refreshing drink to-go, you can find us at Serendipity Gourmet.
Serendipity—on Union Street in downtown Providence—has been a neighborhood staple when it comes to grocery items. Made to order deli sandwiches? Check. Hot lunch? Check. Chips, candy, and snacks? Check.
But at this time of year, there’s one section that we’re thinking about the most: Serendipity’s extensive refrigerated section. It boasts kombucha, juices, seltzers, international beverages, and more. Most recently, they’ve added Sibilla Sparkling Water and juices from Pure Green to their shelves!
