And we understand how challenging it can be to wade through all the happenings and decide what events to attend, where to eat, and what to shop for. That’s why we’re here to share the top things we’re excited about in the coming week in each installment of “The Weekly.” Each week, we’ll rant and rave unabashedly about just a slice of the food, fun, and fantastic items that we’re currently obsessed with in downtown Providence, RI.

ROOFTOP WINE TASTING FEATURING ICONIC PROVIDENCE PIZZA
Here comes a pairing we’re pretty excited about: on Thursday, Aug. 13, Eno Fine Wines will have a rooftop tasting that pairs wines with pizza from Pizza Marvin! Eno Fine Wines has monthly tastings on the historic Peerless Building rooftop in downtown Providence, and the view of the iconic Providence skyline cannot be beat in our opinion. And Pizza Marvin is a beloved pizza spot located in Fox Point (and is from the same team that recently opened Rollers Sports Bar and Grill).
Grab tickets online right here for $40 per person. It kicks off from 5:30-7:30 pm, ending right in time to head downstairs and a block away to Movies on the Block (we’ll be showing the 90s classic Clueless at dusk).
WHERE WE’RE EATING LUNCH IN DOWNTOWN PROVIDENCE RIGHT NOW
Whether you live in, work in, or are just visiting Providence for the day, lunchtime is an important part of the experience! And each week we like to switch it up with where we’re grabbing lunch. Recently, we’ve been very much enjoying the flavors of West African food at Suya Joint on Westminster Street.
We ordered two of their “Express Lunch” options; these are quick, easy, and delicious lunch deals that start at $19.95. (We’re obsessed with the plantains!) NEXT THURSDAY: “CLUELESS” SHOWS AT MOVIES ON THE BLOCK
OMG we cannot believe that our next Movies on the Block free outdoor screening is literally next week? Time has passed so quickly that we’re totally buggin’. Join us for the 90s cult classic “Clueless” on Thursday, Aug. 13 at dusk (so after sunset, once it’s dark enough for the projector). Alicia Silverstone stars in the iconic role of Cher, a wealthy high schooler who embarks on a matchmaking journey that may just end in disaster. (Pssst this is a very entertaining 90s retelling of Jane Austen’s novel “Emma.”)
Movies on the Block takes place at Grant’s Block Park in downtown Providence. There’s no seating provided so bring your beach chairs and show up early because space is limited! This park unfortunately cannot accommodate dogs, so please leave them safe and cozy at home. Hungry? Oberlin is vending food and drinks right on-site.
