WHERE TO SHOP SMALL IN DOWNTOWN PROVIDENCE BEFORE THE LONG WEEKEND
Whenever there’s a long weekend ahead, there are a few usual stops we make at small businesses in downtown Providence, RI… Whether we’re traveling, hosting, or heading to someone else’s for some fun, we have to stock up! Here’s what we recommend:
Queen of Hearts and Modern Love always stocks a colorful variety of juicy cocktail/mocktail mixers (simply add the alcohol of your choice and/or sparkling water), along with delicious hot sauces and mustards to top all the cookout food with!
A bottle of wine—like this Domaine Les Capréoles Cossinelle rosé—from Eno Fine Wines is often a welcome contribution to gatherings.
Looking for something to enjoy for yourself? We are always tempted by the new releases at Symposium Books so we suggest giving into the temptation and snagging a weekend read!
We also refreshed our celebration wardrobe with handcrafted jewelry from Craftland and some vintage dresses and tees from The Vault Collective on Westminster Street.
If you’re hosting—or looking for a hosting gift—Homestyle has some of the cutest Rhody-themed serving dishes, such as this state-shaped porcelain dish.
OBERLIN X GIFT HORSE COLLAB FOR SPECIAL JULY 4 MENU
If you’re craving a burger on the fourth and you’re planning to stay in the city, there’s no need to fire up that grill- Oberlin and Gift Horse have got your back! On July 4, the restaurants are swapping and sharing certain popular menu items. From 3-8 pm, Oysters, Piri Piri Chicken and Bulgogi Burgers will be available to order at both.
Walk-ins are welcome and reservations for Gift Horse can be made here, while Oberlin reservations can be made here. (And pssst icymi, these two award winning spots are sister restaurants and even share the same building.)
DANCE THE FOURTH AWAY AT THIS DOWNTOWN CLUB
For the 21+ crowd: want to go out dancing as a way to kick off the long weekend? The Salon, a classic bar and nightclub in downtown Providence, has plans for you! On July 4, head to Eddy Street for dancing and music mixed by mardon famous and DJ Kayd for “Joy Ride.” No cover and The Salon opens at 8 pm.
What to expect? Cocktails and vintage games upstairs (check out the pinball machine), and open format dance vibes downstairs. The Salon has been a destination for dancing and drinks in the neighborhood since 2010.
