Downtown Providence Spring 2025 Cafe Specials

We’ll be the first to say that having a little treat can fix an awful lot of our problems… And trying new seasonal treats? Even better! The cafes in downtown Providence, RI have all rolled out some delightful spring menus and we have recommendations on what to try. Now that the weather is warming up and outdoor seating is becoming fixture of downtown sidewalks, we’re all about grabbing an iced beverage, a pastry or two, and strolling in the sunshine. Here’s where to go!

LITTLE CITY COFFEE & KITCHEN

Little City Coffee & Kitchen on Mathewson Street is one of our go-to coffeeshops in downtown Providence! When they first opened in 2021, they opened as an almost entirely to-go operation. To this day, you can either sit and sip for awhile—either indoors or outdoors—or you can grab food and drinks super quickly for as takeout. While we’re big fans of their housemade English muffin breakfast sandwiches (give the Pulled Mushroom a try- it’s one of our favorite items on their menu), we also can’t deny their drink and baked good offerings.

For spring 2025 specials, try the new Rhubarb and Orange Blossom syrup! We ordered it in both an Iced Matcha and in an Iced Lemonade, but you can also order it in your coffee. From the bakery case, we sampled the Gluten-Free Almond Rhubarb Cake and Vegan Strawberry Matcha Cake, as well as the Spring Pea and Leek Scone. Check out their menu here!

SMALL POINT CAFE

Almost 25 years ago, back in 2010, Small Point Cafe opened its doors on Westminster Street. And since then, this cozy, plant-filled cafe has become a downtown staple for breakfast and lunch! They’re known for their wide variety of sandwiches (including vegan and vegetarian options), coffee, and pastries.

And seasonally, we’re excited about their new Strawberry Iced Latte and Blueberry Iced Matcha menu items. Each drink is sweet, flavorful, and refreshing (and we believe you can mix up the combination of these syrups in matcha or coffee, too.) On the next sunny day, we recommend ordering and then taking a seat out on the sidewalk to enjoy a view of the “Superman Building” and the rest of historic Westminster Street. Learn more about Small Point here.

BOLT COFFEE

Bolt Coffee, on Washington Street, is always bustling with city visitors and locals alike. Just a few blocks from City Hall and Kennedy Plaza, Bolt is a great as both a destination and a stop on the way to your next adventure. (And they also have a location within the RISD location too.) Their coffee—using their own line of coffee beans—and breakfast and lunch options are always delicious to try.

And now that spring is upon us, we’re very excited about their spring 2025 specials, including two drinks: we recently tried the refreshing lemonade with a shot of Blueberry Basil syrup. And for those who like a hit of caffeine, the Iced Black Sesame Latte is a sweet option. Find out more about Bolt here.

ELLIE’S

We were beyond elated when Ellie’s relocated and reopened on Westminster Street in the summer of 2024. Since then, they’ve made the space their own with their usual excellent coffee, pastries, breakfast, and lunch options. They also host baking classes, offer catering, and open as a wine bar on Fridays and Saturdays. Suffice to say, there’s always something happened at Ellie’s!

This spring, we couldn’t hold ourselves back from ordering their specials, including a Lavender Vanilla syrup in both iced coffee and iced lattes. From the bakery case, the macarons come in spring flavors such as Tahini Rhubarb, Amaretto Apricot, and Dulce Pineapple—to name a few—and the Chocolate Almond Coconut Croissant is new on the menu, too. Find out more about Ellie’s here.
