Here’s the gist: in Providence, there’s always something interesting going on. And we understand how challenging it can be to wade through all the happenings and decide what events to attend, where to eat, and what to shop for. That’s why we’re here to share the top things we’re excited about in the coming week in each installment of “The Weekly.” Each week, we’ll rant and rave unabashedly about just a slice of the food, fun, and fantastic items that we’re currently obsessed with in downtown Providence, RI.

MURMUR HIFI LOUNGE NOW OPEN IN PROVIDENCE
If you’ve been itching to check out a new spot in downtown Providence, we have some fun news for you: Murmur HiFi Lounge is now open! This “high fidelity, analogue listening lounge” is located at 276 Westminster Street (so right next door to Gift Horse) from 4 pm to 12 am Wednesday and Thursday; 4 pm to 1 am Friday and Saturday; and 4 pm to 12 am on Sunday and Monday.
Sit down, listen to music on their high quality speaker system, sip on a sake or handcrafted cocktail (the “Window Seat” is a highball cocktail and it’s so good), and order a few snacks.
OBERLIN AND GIFT HORSE HOST A SPECIAL JULY 4 BARBECUE
Will you be in town for the 4th? If so, we have a delicious tip for you: let downtown Providence restaurants Oberlin and Gift Horse handle the food for you! They’re co-hosting a special July 4 Barbecue from 12-6 pm. On the menu: Smoked Piri Piri Chicken and Sausages, Oysters, American wines (poured by Nico from NOK Vino), and more.
Reservations can be made right here (and make ‘em fast). Oberlin and Gift Horse are sister restaurants and both located right on Westminster Street.
JULY 9: MOVIES ON THE BLOCK SHOWS OUTDOOR SCREENING OF “RAISING ARIZONA”
We had so much fun with you all last month for our first Movies on the Block! And we’re ready to do it all again. Join us on Thursday, July 9 for a free outdoor screening of the 1980’s comedy “Raising Arizona.” Together we’ll head to the Grand Canyon State following two wily criminals—played by Nicolas Cage and Holly Hunter—who will do absolutely anything to grow their family.
The movie will start rolling at dusk (so when it’s dark enough after sunset) on Thursday, July 9. It takes place at Grant’s Block Park in downtown Providence, and there’s no seating provided so bring your beach chairs and show up early because space is limited! This public park unfortunately cannot accommodate dogs, so please leave them at home. Oberlin is vending food and drinks on-site.
