Here’s the gist: in Providence, there’s always something interesting going on. And we understand how challenging it can be to wade through all the happenings and decide what events to attend, where to eat, and what to shop for. That’s why we’re here to share the top things we’re excited about in the coming week in each installment of “The Weekly.” Each week, we’ll rant and rave unabashedly about just a slice of the food, fun, and fantastic items that we’re currently obsessed with in downtown Providence, RI.

2/21: CIVIL CELEBRATES SKATE SHOP DAY WITH LIMITED MERCH

Ever since 2020, Skate Shop Day has been a special annual tradition when “the skateboard community celebrates our cultural hubs, the foundations of every skate scene, the places that bring skaters together and act as the glue for skateboarding as a whole.” And Providence has our very own skate shop to celebrate!

On Saturday, Feb. 21, head to Civil at 231 Westminster Street for Skate Shop Day. The shop will have limited edition decks and gear both online and in-store from brands such as Real Skateboards, Verdy, Deluxe Distribution, Krooked, Yeti, and more. Plus there’s a new Civil tee in rotation (coming soon)! All items are first come, first served; Civil’s Providence store hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.

2/24: RESERVE A SPOT FOR A THREE-COURSE CHEF NIGHT AT CLEMENTINE COCKTAIL BAR

We always love taking a delicious opportunity to discover new flavors and new dishes from up and coming chefs in Providence! And Clementine Cocktail Bar in downtown Providence often hosts visiting chef nights throughout the year. Up next is Jack Cunningham, a senior at Johnson and Wales University, who will take over the kitchen at Clementine on Tuesday, February 24.

The menu will feature ceviche, duck, and blood orange tarts. Seatings are still available at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. and reservations can be made right here!

HERE’S THE FEBRUARY SPECIAL AT THE MALTED BARLEY WE CAN’T STOP ORDERING

February may be the shortest month, but that doesn’t mean we’re not in need of delicious treats to help get us through! Right now, we cannot stop ordering The Malted Barley’s monthly special, the Crispy Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. This zesty sammy has fried chicken topped with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and blue cheese in a crispy housemade pretzel. And additionally: the whole thing can be made gluten-free!

We also recommend ordering a beer or two... We’re partial to the Nitro Rubaeus, but The Malted Barley has something for everyone in their impressive collection of local and international drafts and bottles.
