The Weekly: 1/16/25 Guide to Downtown Providence
In Providence, there’s always something interesting going on! And we understand how challenging it can be to wade through all the happenings and decide what events to attend, where to eat, and what to shop for. That’s why we’re here to share the top three things we’re excited about in the coming week in each installment of “The Weekly.” Each week, we’ll rant and rave unabashedly about just a slice of the food, fun, and fantastic items that we’re currently obsessed with in downtown Providence, RI.

JAN. 17-18: NIGHTTIME WINE BAR AT ELLIE’S
From brunch with friends on the weekends, to a morning cuppa and a pastry, to work day lunches, Ellie’s in downtown Providence has a lovely offering of menu items throughout the day. But did you know they are serving up something new? Every Friday and Saturday—including this upcoming Friday, Jan. 17 and Saturday, Jan. 18—head to the cafe between 6-10 pm for a nighttime wine bar!
The wine bar includes curated selections of phenomonel wines. (There were so many delightful options that we asked our sommelier to pour us a flight.) There are also tapas-style small plates, including cheeses, steak tartare, foie gras, and more. And the live music is just the cherry on the top for this new experience at Ellie’s!
JAN. 21: CHEF NIGHT AT CLEMENTINE COCKTAIL BAR
If we’re looking for somewhere downtown to order an excellent cocktail, Clementine Cocktail Bar is one of our go-to spots. Known for creative, flavorful concoctions (the “Beso” cocktail is one such concoction that comes to mind), the team at Clementine knows how to mix a drink. And on Tuesday, Jan. 21, they’ll be adding a delicious new experience to the lineup: during the upcoming Chef Night at Clementine, enjoy a decadent three course dinner made by three guest chefs.
Chef Bazzinotti, Chef Rich, and Chef Manning are each experienced chefs and faculty at the lauded Johnson and Wales University. The event has seatings at 6 pm and 8 pm; reservations are required and can be made here.
JAN. 2025 FEATURED ITEM: A TIMELESS AND STYLISH STAFF-FAVORITE JEAN
If you haven’t already perused the variety of colorful, fashionable clothing, jewelry, and accessories at downtown Providence boutique Queen of Hearts and Modern Love, then we recommend planning a visit this winter! These sister stores have been a staple in the neighborhood since 2006 (Modern Love opened in 2010). And we always like to take a leaf out of their book when it comes to what’s in. Currently, their staff favorite item for January 2025 is the Palmer Cuffed Jean in La La Land.
This pair is comfy, flattering, and can be easily dressed up or dressed down. Try a pair on and you’ll understand why the Queen of Hearts and Modern Love staff—and us too—are obsessed!
