14 Gifts for Hosts 2023

Between the holidays at the in-laws and end-of-year celebrations, there is plenty of hosting to go around. (We’ve personally been changing our minds every other minute about whether to bring a staple side dish, or dare to try out a brand new one for Thanksgiving, on pain of disownment…) If you’re attending festivities at someone else’s home and would like to give them a thoughtful gift, we’ve rounded up some of our go-to gifts for hosts.

Each item is from a small businesses in downtown Providence, RI. Thank you for shopping small and shopping local this holiday season!

WE RECOMMEND…

Nalu Throw, Bali Bungalow, $165

This gorgeous handmade cotton throw blanket is a great addition to any living room or guest room (for functionality or decor).

Gurgling Fish Pitcher, Homestyle, $68

A New England staple, who doesn’t find joy in the humorous glug of a gurgle pot? (Plus, we love this vibrant shade of green.)

Handmade Zodiac Candles, Craftland, $24

Whatever the star sign, we bet your host will love the sweet scent of these handmade candles in their home!

Screen-Printed Tea Towels, Craftland, $24

Tea towels are an easy way to add a bit of color and beauty to one’s kitchen. (Each of these floral prints are hard to choose between, though!)

Mary Taylor/Remi Larroque - Larroque Pet Nat Gaillacoise 2020, Eno Fine Wines, $22

If you ask what white wine we’re bringing to our parent’s house this year, it’s this one: a decadent French pétillant naturel from importer Mary Taylor.

Citrus Champagne Vinegar, Queen of Hearts and Modern Love, $22

We love how this sweet and zesty vinegar brightens up any dish!

Accidentally Wes Anderson by Wally Koval, Symposium Books, $35

Yes, it’s a big book, but this collection of Wes Anderson-esque scenery is so colorful and fun as a coffee table book! (Just check our own coffee tables…)

Moroccan Terracotta Serving Bowl, Queen of Hearts and Modern Love, $35

We know better than anyone how suddenly it can seem like there are not enough serving bowls and dishes to go around when the holidays arrive! Gift this gorgeous terracotta bowl to your host so they don’t have this common problem.

Dandelion Cloth Napkin Set, Homestyle, $36

How cute is this set of four cotton table napkins? These are a welcome addition to any small dinner party decor.

Mixing drinks is an art. Who couldn’t do with even more interesting, helpful tips and recipes?

Heading to the house of someone who is always reaching for fresh herbs when cooking? Give them this self-watering rosemary jar to keep everything fresh!

Elderflower and Hops Cocktail Mixer, Queen of Hearts and Modern Love, $19

It’s always great to have a delicious cocktail mixer on hand when hosting! This elderflower and hops mixer is a staple in our cupboards.

Mini Ceramic Bowls, Craftland, $19

Perfect as a ring dish next to the sink or for serving dipping oil with bread at the beginning of a meal, this small ceramic bowl is great for many uses. (We also love the Rhody touch, with the image of the Providence Power Plant.)

G.D. Vajra di Aldo - Barolo Ravera 2014, Eno Fine Wines, $79

Of course no guide to gifts for hosts would be complete without a fine, albeit pricey-but-worth-the-price wine! If you’re looking to splurge on something delicious for your hosts, this organic, full-bodied Italian red is an excellent choice.
