We’re so glad to have you here! With much of this year’s program and most of the hotels centered in the downtown neighborhood, we know you’ll be wanting to explore the area. Providence is well known for its robust culinary offerings, boasting a diverse list of highly acclaimed chefs and restaurants throughout the city. While you’re in town….

  • RISD Museum

    A popular regional destination, the RISD Museum offers access to ongoing programming and a rich collection of fine art, design and decorative arts from around the world. These range from ancient Chinese sculpture to French Impressionist paintings and contemporary art in every medium.

  • Michael S. Van Leesten Memorial Bridge

    Originally built as part of the I-195 redevelopment project, the bridge was named in honor of Michael S. Van Leesten in recognition of his contributions to the Providence community.

    A short stroll from the center of downtown to enjoy the elevated park.

  • Hot Club

    The Hot Club is one of the only places in the city to sit along the river and enjoy a drink outdoors. The bar attracts a wide variety of locals, from elected officials to local college students and everyone in between. Enjoy a cocktail while taking in the views on the expansive deck.

  • Providence Riverboat Tours

  • Providence Athenaeum

    The Athenæum was founded in 1836, and predates the establishment of public libraries. All are invited to join as members, visit the building, explore our history, engage with the collections, participate in programs, and be part of the Athenæum’s ongoing story!

  • Rhode Island School of Design

    Founded in 1877, RISD is considered one of the best art universities in the country. The campus, adjacent to Brown University, is nestled in Providence’s historic college hill neighborhood. The school is home to 2,518 students from 57 countries engaged in 44 full-time bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. explore the campus with this self guided tour.

  • Brown University

    One of the iconic landmarks contributing to the cultural atmosphere of Providence, is Brown University. Founded in 1764, this is the seventh-oldest university in the United States, chartered before the American Revolution. Walkable from downtown or take a brief uber and enjoy this a self guided walking tour.

  • Rhode Island State House

    Self-guided tours are available Mon-Fri, 8:30a - 4:30p. Printed self-guided brochures are available in the Visitor Center located on the first floor of the State House, and in the State Library on the second floor. Learn more about the building here.

  • Prospect Park

    The site of Roger Williams Memorial statue overlooking a panoramic view of Providence‘s skyline and downtown Providence. A perfect place to take in the sunset. A short walk from downtown, but up a fairly steep hill, we recommend comfortable shoes!

  • Benefit Street

    The most impressive concentration of original Colonial homes in America. Beautifully restored houses, churches and museums overlook the city's historic waterfront. Self-guided walking tour of Benefit St. is available from the Providence Preservation Society.
