Coming soon to downtown Providence, RI: a new hair salon is opening in the WIT Building!

Please help us give a very warm welcome to GUM, a modern hair salon that will soon open at 77 Clemence Street. GUM is owned by Christian Domingos, a professional New England-based hair stylist and educator who specializes in creative cuts and color. (Pssst you may know him as @christiandomingos over on Instagram).

Domingos will work out of the new salon alongside additional stylists later on. A grand opening will be announced later in the spring, and we cannot wait to celebrate!

Domingos began his career in hair styling in 2016 and since has worked in a variety of salons across New England. He has gathered a large following both from current customers and through his popular Instagram account @christiandomingos, gaining features on influential accounts such as American Salon, Modern Salon, and Redken.

Domingos’ accolades include multiple nominations for the One Shot Hair Awards, plus recognition as part of the Modern Salon 100 of 2021 and Behind the Chair’s 2023 Top 100.

“What drew me to opening up a salon in Providence was the little city vibes,” says Domingos. “I love how eclectic and artsy the city is, especially in the downtown area, and that fits the brand so perfectly. I would describe GUM as a hair salon geared for creatives; trying out new things and keeping the East Coast innovative and trendy is kinda our thing. I wanted to create a space where all creatives could be aligned not only in the stylists that are there but also the ambience.”

We hear that renovations at GUM are currently underway, including interior design by Alex Correia.

When open, the salon will be open by appointment only, so make sure to book soon by emailing gum.pvd@gmail.com. For more information about GUM, visit gumpvd.com and follow @gum.pvd on Instagram.
